Cynar is an Italian liqueur (amaro) made from artichokes and herbs of reddish-brown color. It has a slightly bitter, tart-sweet taste. The alcohol content is 16.5% vol.

Cynar is considered digestive due to its content of artichoke ingredients (cynarin) and is therefore well suited as a digestif. It can be drunk either neat or as a long drink, classically with soda or cola, tonic water or bitter lemon. A lemon or orange wedge in the glass serves for flavoring and decoration.
