Preparation

  1. Shake the orange juice, rum, vodka and cream vigorously in a shaker with a few ice cubes.
  2. Add a few ice cubes to a highball glass.
  3. Strain the drink into the glass.
  4. Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve.

Why is the Orange Whip such a classic drink?

The Orange Whip was made famous by the movie "The Blues Brothers" (1980). In one scene, the character "Mr. Fabulous" (played by John Candy) asks in a club:

"Who wants an Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Orange Whip? Three Orange Whips!"

Since then, the drink has become something of a cult drink.
