Information

The Sazerac is a classic cocktail and closely related to the Old Fashioned. Like the latter, it consists of a spirit, sugar, water and a bitters. In the Sazerac, American rye whiskey (rye whiskey) or cognac is used as the base spirit and Peychaud's bitters as the bitters. As a special feature, the glass is wetted with absinthe beforehand. In addition, unlike an Old Fashioned, the Sazerac is served without ice in the glass.
